Kaspersky Antivirus Review
Kaspersky Antivirus is a powerful malware security program that has an impressive set of features. The features you receive depend on the package you choose. It can be anything from basic virus and malware protection to a complete security suite.
The user interface for Kaspersky is clean and visually appealing, with most functions displayed as a few tiles on the main screen. You can run quick or full scans, and then check the results in a straightforward and concise manner. You can also look up your device’s status (e.g., a green checkmark means you’re protected) and look up recommendations for what you can do next.
Kaspersky has a number of fantastic features which include a data leak detector system that searches the dark web to locate personal data to sell (e.g. email addresses, credit card numbers and social security numbers) and a scanner for weak settings that find configurations that leave your device vulnerable. Keyloggers can’t monitor your movements in order to locate your login details. Another security tool is an onscreen keyboard which blocks keyloggers from tracking your physical movements. Kaspersky Internet Security subscriptions include an unpaid VPN however, it’s limited to 300MB per day.
While the software does a good job of ensuring your device is secure but some users are concerned about the privacy practices of Kaspersky Lab. The company is owned by Russian security firm Eugene Kaspersky and has been accused of collusion with the government, including during the conflict in Ukraine. While the company denies the allegations however, the controversy has hurt its reputation. Kaspersky’s Global Transparency Initiative was launched to regain trust and show its commitment to privacy and freedom.
